He is an electrical engineer graduate (1975) from Karlsruhe Technical University of West Germany. Co-founder of Strofilia in 1980, when with Achilleas Lampsides decided to try work within the viticulture by replanting Yiannis’ family estate in Anavyssos, Attica, which was left behind due to phylloxera which destroyed it in 1956.

During the 1980s, the wine bar STROFILIA was founded, where the “renaissance” of Greek wine is now available in Athens.

Being a bio-cultivator himself, he is convinced of the potential of the vineyard in Attica and especially the one of the Anavyssos region and he is constantly working to improve local wines. Today he continues with the “refreshed” Strofilia, having an active place in the new corporate scheme.

Co-founder of Strofilia in 1980, when with  Yiannis Maltezos decide to try work within the viticulture by replanting Yiannis’ family estate in Anavyssos, Attica, which was left behind due to phylloxera which destroyed it in 1956. Since then, he has been working and cooperating with him for the management and administration of Strofilia until today.

In the 90s, he deals with the expansion of the cooperating vineyards in the Peloponnese and he is captivated by the beauty of mountainous areas of Aegialia and Nemea. Their high quality potential leads to the creation of OKTANA SA, which creates a winery in Asprokambos in 2000. This winery is now 100% owned by Strofilia.

After merging with KATOGI, he returns to viticulture, where he believes there is a serious need for experimentation to improve Greek wines. He currently has about 70 private stremata, where, after many efforts, he cultivates vines with a different stemming system (LYRA) to control liveliness, with excellent results.

Today he continues with the “refreshed” Strofilia, having an active place in the new corporate scheme.

Yannis Ligas grew up in a small wine lab kept by his father, Vassilis. There, at the age of 8, he started making his firsts titrations. When it was time to choose a field of studies, he chose Chemistry as a scientific path to Oenology. In 2017, Yannis Maltezos and Achilleas Lampsidis assigned him a challenging task: to redesign oenologically all of Strofilia’s wines, and to create new products. Three years later, both of Strofilia’s founders invited him to join their business. He was particularly happy and honored to accept.

Yannis Ligas is a chemist. He has a diploma in Oenology, a Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry specializing in Oenology, and is a PhD of Oenology Candidate. He is  speaks four foreign languages.

Her story resembles of the one of Obelix, as she fell into a cauldron full of wine, and she fell in love with wine for a lifetime.  The daughter of the founder of Strofilia Yiannis Maltezos, she finished the Wine, Vine & Beverage Sciences Department at WEST ATTICA UNIVERSITY in Athens and she is actively involved in Strofilia since 2005.

She has started from the sales department and has been engaged exclusively in the marketing and public relations part of the company for the last few years.

He started working at Strofilia in February 1993. He was one of the first associates of the company and from the beginning until now, he deals with the vinification, the final product control and is responsible for the warehouse supplies and the overall management of the warehouse.

Motto: The most important quality for someone is to be effective, not just fast.
